Winter Favourites

Hello my lovelies! So Fall/Autumn has been and gone and now we welcome Winter! As I haven’t really done a monthly favourites in so so long I thought I’d share my favourites for this time of the year in general.

First of all I love and need a good moisturizer for the colder months, and recently I have been using  the Embryolisse – Lait Creme Concentre both morning and night. It just provides a really good layer of moisture to my skin. I would recommend it for those of you who have dry patches on your face and neck. However, if you’re not too keen on rich creams then this isn’t for you. I purchased the 30ml tube a few months back and I have quite a lot left so for the price I am impressed.

Okay so I finally took the plunge and purchased the Tatcha – Gold spun lip balm, and let me tell you something this is the most luxurious product I own. The packaging is beautiful, the product itself is beautiful, the fragrance is beautiful and the texture is beautiful! Oh, did I mention this product is just beautiful?! It has Camellia oil in it and gold flecks which nourishes your lips and adds a beautiful sheen to it. It really is such a gorgeous lip balm to wear, I did try to use it only for special occasions but it’s just too nice! You know everyone on YouTube saying it was perfect for under a matte lip product, well it is and it doesn’t take away from the matte look. It really does just feel divine on your lips. It is an extremely pricey product at about £32 and I purchased mine from Roses beauty store.

If you didn’t know from all my previous posts, The Body Shop have really upped their game this year and have finally come out with Matte liquid lipsticks, my favourite one for this time of the year is in the shade “Tahiti Hibiscus – 016”.It’s the perfect combination of pink/plum/red tones and it applies effortlessly on to the lips. I can’t say much for its staying power as I haven’t needed to where it for long enough to check. But the price point is amazing at £6,so if you’re around town go to your nearest store and pick one up, don’t forget to grab your points for your love your body card.

One of my go to items for the colder months is coconut oil (although I do use it all year round)! I honestly cannot live without coconut oil! I use it on my hair, my body and to remove my makeup! I recently got a hair cut and I noticed that my ends just felt dry even with all the split ends having been chopped off 😦 I decided to warm up some coconut oil in a bowl and put in my favourite hair mask with it and apply it from root to tips. I do this about twice a week now and my hair has started to become soft and silky like before. I didn’t realise just how much of a difference the cold makes to my hair but this has just helped so much. You can purchase it pretty much anywhere, I usually get mine at Tesco.

Lastly I have the NYX liquid glitter liner and who doesn’t love a bit of glitter and sparkle during winter?! I use this mainly on the top of my eye lid when I’m doing a brown smokey eye and it just adds enough glitter to make your eyes pop! I think this was around £7 as well which I think is a brilliant price considering how pigmented it is. If you’ve got plans for Christmas or New years then I’d say you need this in your life! I’ve got the gold one, sorry I’m not too sure of the name of the colour!

Let me know about your favourite products for the winter!

Save my lips

Hi my lovelies! So I’m now in my final year at University and it is full on. I have decided to do blog posts as and when I have time so that I still put out quality posts!

My lips seem to get super dry as soon as it hits September, not that it’s been too cold since then but without a doubt doesn’t matter what the weather they’ll be dry. So I have decided to try out a lot of different lip products for you all. Since last year I have tried the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour balm, Lanolin lip balm, Lipglam lip balm, The Body Shop Hemp lip balm, The Body Shop Vitamin E lip balm and the Nuxe lip balm. Seriously if you name a lip product I’ve probably tried and tested it at some point!

So overall they are all really lovely products and super intense in terms of hydrating at the time you put them on which is great, but for me I need a lip product that has softened my lips by the time it’s all come off. The Lipglam lip balm and the Lanolin lip balm are very similar to the 8 hour balm by Elizabeth Arden, in fact I’d say it’s a pretty good dupe when you look at the difference in prices! The one thing that I like about all three of the lip balms mentioned above is that they can be used in so many different ways, my favourite way is smoothing down any flyaway hairs that I have! I got the Nuxe lip balm purely out of curiosity, I hadn’t really seen any reviews on it but I just wanted to try it. It’s such a lovely product but my main issue is that it comes in a tub so when I have long nails it infuriates me when I have to scrape the product with my nail.

Now out of all the lip products I have owned and spent money on my favourites are probably the Lanolin lip balm and the two lip balms from The Body Shop. The Vitamin E lip balm literally saves my lips, I bite my lip whenever I’m nervous to the point where it bleeds and all I have to do is apply a generous amount of this balm and by morning it is literally back to normal. I use it during the colder months mainly when I’m going out purely because it acts as a barrier and protects my lips from the cold wind. The Hemp lip balm is good for when I want to wear a matte lipstick or matte liquid lipstick, it just provides moisture without any shine to it, it’s no miracle balm but I love it for my matte lip days.

So there is my review on different lip products, I hope it helps in some way and let me know which products suit your lips! I think my next lip care product will have to be the Dr. Paw Paw and the Tatcha gold lip balm!

Dare to Mask – The Body Shop

Hi my lovelies! I have a post for all you facial mask lovers! As most of you know I love The Body Shop, but this has increased my love for them even more!

If you know me then you know I love a good face mask and I’m usually willing to spend a lot on a face mask if it does wonders for my skin! The Body Shop were kind enough to send me two out of their five new face masks and I absolutely love them! I was given the “Fresh plumping mask” and the “Purifying glow Mask”. There are five masks in total and these are:

  • British Rose – Fresh Plumping Mask
  • Himalayan Charcoal – Purifying Glow Mask
  • Ehtiopian Honey – Deep Nourishing Mask
  • Amazonian Acai – Energising Eadiance Mask
  • Chinese Ginseng & Rice – Clarifying Polishing Mask

So let me give you a bit of insight as to why these SuperFood Masks are essential for your bathroom cupboard! These masks are silicone free, paraben free and mineral oil free and they are 100% vegetarian with a few of them being 100% vegan. My main reason for liking this whole range for starters is that there genuinely seems to be a mask for everyone which means you can do a bit of multi-masking too and I think that it’s so important that we indulge ourselves in a bit of Spa luxury at home! So now let’s get on to the reasons why I love the two face masks that I have tried.

Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

This beauty has been inspired by Ayurvedic traditions which contains Bamboo charcoal to really extract any toxins and excess oil within the skin and also exfoliating Green Tea leaves combined with Tea Tree oil to purify the skin. I like to apply this at least once a week after I have double cleansed my skin. All I do is apply a layer of this with a synthetic foundation brush on all the areas needed on my face, I let it sit on my skin for about 10 minutes and then gently wash it off with warm water. When you apply this face mask it has a lovely cooling sensation but then it starts to tingle on the skin and you know its doing its magic! Since using this for about 2 weeks now I have noticed that I don’t get as many breakouts and when I do get the odd spot it tends to dry faster as I use this as a spot treatment as well! Also, just to let you all know this mask is an amazing dupe for the GlamGlow Supermud which I purchased online for about £50. I do still love the GlamGlow masks but The Body Shop ones are just as good and are a fraction of the price at only £15 each.

British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask

This gorgeous Rose Mask has been inspired by European bathing rituals which is infused with real Rose petals and Rose essences which add moisture to the skin. Also infused in this wonder product is the Rosehip oil which contains Omegas 3 & 6 which helps to tone and plump up the skin. It is also great for those with slightly sensitive skin because it contains Aloe Vera which is known for its soothing properties. I absolutely love using this about twice a week in the morning especially if I’m going to be wearing makeup because you can almost see how it just sits better on your skin.

These lovely face masks will be launching in The Body Shop stores sometime in August so keep a look out and when they do make sure you try them out in store and ask for advice! Make sure to test them out on a small area before going all out as what works for me, might not always work for you!

My Laser Hair Removal Experience

Hi my lovelies! So I have always been on the look out for anything that can help with hair removal and I have been to a few laser clinics (I won’t mention any names) that just did not give me any results even though I was going every 6 weeks. It started becoming quite expensive and I decided to do further research. I got in touch with Kaushal Beauty who is such a lovely positive lady that informed me where she actually goes for her laser and I also found that for my skin tone I need to use ND YAG laser rather than IPL or Alexandrite. I contacted the laser clinic and spoke to the laser techinician Tracey.

I got myself booked in for a full body treatment and a microdermabrasion. So for those of you who don’t know a full body treatment includes everything from head to toe apart from the hair on my head, eyebrows and eyelashes. So as you can imagine I was extremely nervous! When I got there Tracey was absolutely wonderful, she made me feel so welcome and comfortable and we basically just had a nice chat through the whole session! I’m not going to lie some parts of my body were super sensitive so it really hurt in some areas. However Tracey was really understanding and kept asking if I was okay and would turn the heat down when needed.

We used the ND YAG laser for my skin tone and hair, I had to make sure I had no products on my skin (makeup, deodrant, perfume etc) and I had to shave everywhere that was being treated the night before. I was also told to use a high factor SPF and to try and stay out of the sun and to ensure that I don’t get all hot and sweaty for 48 hours after the treatment (gym, exercise, sauna, hot showers). I recently went for my second treatment with Tracey and I kid you not it is the best thing I have ever done, it just makes life easier and I feel more confident when I’m out and about. I wasn’t extremely hairy before but it was just something that really bothered me and I’m not trying to criticise hair on the body because it is completely natural but it was just personal preference especially from my dancing days!

Right, now that I have waffled on for ages I am going to leave the link to the laser clinics website and if you have any questions definitely get in touch with Tracey!

Summer Essentials

Hi my beauties! I thought I’d write a post on all the items that I am either currently loving or eager to get my hands on!

The Body Shop – Pinita Colada

So I am super excited about this range! As you know from my previous posts The Body Shop have really upped their game with packaging and new launches! This range consists of a shower gel, body scrub, body sorbet and body butter. This range smells absolutely beautiful! It literally makes you feel like it is already summer! I love how creamy yet invigorating the body scrub is, it isn’t too harsh on my skin yet I come out of the shower and my skin is radiant! The body sorbet has a lovely cooling texture to it so it is perfect for hot weather conditions and for those who don’t like the feeling of a moisturiser on their skin.

The Body Shop – Drops of Sun

This is absolutely beautiful for those of you looking for a bit of a summer glow without the hassle of any types of fake tan as some can be dangerous! You only need about 2-3 drops for your whole arm and it covers the entirety without leaving it looking patchy or orange! I tried this on when I was at work and I ended up getting so many compliments about how I looked radiant and looked like I had caught a bit of sun on holiday! This product is about £16 and don’t forget to collect your points with your Body Shop loyalty card!

The Body Shop – Skin Defence SPF 50

Okay, so out of all The Body Shop products this one has to be my favourite. The only reasons for that is because I have been waiting for a product like this to come out! I love the fact that it has both UVA and UVB protection, so it also helps with any skin damage and redness. Because the product contains red algae extract and Vitamin C it also prevents the skin from looking dull. So, in terms of texture this product is super lightweight and does not feel greasy, thick or tacky on the skin and this is the main reason why I love wearing it! I use this on top of my Drops of Youth day cream which I also did a post on previously! This product is about £18 but you only need a small amount.

So now all of you know my beauty essentials for Summer or for the beach! I’d definitely say The Body Shop Drops of Sun and SPF 50 are a #BeachDayMusts . I hope you all found this helpful in someway and if you have tried any of these then leave me a comment or let me know on my Instagram page!

Summer Fragrances

Hi my beauties! Sorry that I haven’t posted for a while but I am just going through all my 2nd year exams for university!

I always get people complimenting the fragrances I wear and always being asked which ones they are, so I guess it’s about time I write a post on them! However, I’m not the best at explaining why I like certain fragrances so I’m super sorry!

Mademoiselle – Chanel. I have been using this perfume since the start of summer 2015 and I think this is the perfect scent for somebody wanting a light refreshing fragrance that lasts all day with Orange as one of the top notes. This perfume is not overpowering and it has a really feminine touch to it with Rose being part of the fragrance. This is usually around the £50 price point in Boots but don’t forget to collect your Boots points in store or online!

Si – Giorgio Armani. This is such a beautiful fragrance, it has Vanilla and Rose notes which is why I probably like it so much! Again it is not too overpowering but it lasts pretty much all day and even when you think it’s worn off other people can still smell it which is a bonus! I absolutely love the packaging of this, I have the 30ml EDP which fits perfectly into all of my handbags and I just think the bottle is so cute! I got mine from Boots for about £47, and I always make sure to add my points to my advantage card!

So I hope you all found this useful and definitely try them out if you think you’ll like them, maybe spritz some on yourself and go about your day and see how you find it after a while! I always do this so that I can see how the fragrance lasts on me as it’s always different for everyone and that way you don’t waste any money!

P.s If you have any fragrances that you absolutely love then leave them in the comments or tweet me 🙂

Drops of Light – The Body Shop

Hi my beauty lovers! If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I was lucky enough to be sent a new product line by The Body Shop! As some of you know I do work for The Body Shop but this was separate to my job and purely for my blog. I have been testing the products out for about a month now and I am here to give you my honest reviews! So if you are interested in getting brighter, healthier skin and to combat pigmentation then keep reading!

The range consists of a Pure Clarifying Foam Wash, Pure Translucency Essence Lotion, Pure Healthy Brightening Serum and a Pure Healthy Brightening Day Cream; so it literally has everything you need for a routine! The range contains ingredients such as Red Algae from the North Atlantic and Vitamin C derivative which claims to improve dark spots/patches on the skin after 4 weeks of continuous use. Unfortunately I am not able to tell you the prices for these products, however I reckon it will be between £15 – £30 and it should be launched during April/May.

Pure Clarifying Foam Wash

I was using this every morning and evening with my Foreo Luna 2 mini cleansing device to get a really deep cleanse. I found that the product does genuinely foam up really well, however I wouldn’t recommend this product to people with really dry skin. When using this wash I found that it felt really drying whilst I was still in the process of massaging it into my skin. When I towel dried my face and neck after using it didn’t feel as drying or stripped as I expected it to, so this one has left me unsure about the product. I did like the scent that it had, but I am not 100% sure I would purchase this myself purely because of my skin type.

Pure Translucency Essence Lotion

Right, so who else has noticed that The Body shop has raised their skin care game. The Body Shop has introduced Essence Lotions to three of their ranges: Oils of Life, Drops of Youth, Drops of Light and I am pretty sure they will soon be doing so for the Vitamin E range so keep an eye out for it. Essence Lotions have been really big in Korean skincare so I am really glad that The Body Shop have joined in on this! This particular Essence Lotion is beautiful, it is infused into a lightweight gel-water formula so it provides translucency to the skin and it is absorbed so quickly yet leaves the skin feeling hydrated. Use this product after you have finished cleansing, I take a few drops onto my finger tips and just massage it all over my face and neck! This step for me has made a huge difference, it has helped with my dry skin especially with the weather being so awful in the UK! The main reason for using this product is it allows for better penetration for other products, you can go in with a Toner after this step however I prefer to use the Serum.

Pure Healthy Brightening Serum

This product is to be used after you have used the Essence Lotion, all you need is 2-3 drops of this on your fingertips and gently massage this into your skin every morning and evening. The product claims to reveal healthier brighter skin, improve skin tone, minimise pores and refine the texture of your skin. Since using this product I have been really impressed with this as being Indian I do suffer with a lot of hyperpigmentation due to the levels of Melanin in my skin. This product has worked really well at brightening darker areas and I have actually seen a difference in one of the scars on my face. I don’t personally see a difference in the appearance of my pores, but overall I am so happy with this product. I will be using this continuously and I will purchase a bottle once I finish this one.

Pure Healthy Brightening Day Cream

This product is amazing for those of you that want a day cream which is really rich in texture, it has a lovely fresh natural scent to it and along with all the other products it contains the amazing Red Algae and Vitamin C derivative! You only need a small amount to apply to the whole face and neck, this tub should last you at least 6-12 months. The product claims to reveal smoother, more supple and re-plumped skin. I’m going to be completely honest, I struggled to use this product as I found it was too thick for my liking. I can’t actually fault the product as it has got a nice texture, however my holy grail day ceam is the Drops of Youth Day Cream which I have also done a review on!

Overall I love this range, it is amazing for people who have skin concerns such as hyperpigmentation and dark spots/patches. I definitely recommend this range as it does provide luminosity to the skin and the skin does appear brighter and healthier. However, it is important to remember that what works for one person might not work for you, and also if you have sensitive skin do a test patch and wait for at least 24 hours. I hope you all found this review helpful, if you have any questions just leave them in a comment or you can email me or contact me through Instagram.
